There has been quite a debate lately between Walgreens and Express Script. What happened is that Express Scripts wanted to dictate what is and isn’t a generic drug and reimbursement rates among others.
What this means is that pharmacy patrons are having to go to other places to use their in network covereage. Driving further to pharmacies and losing that relationship with their pharmacists. I remember when we moved from Greenville to Spartanburg I was losing both our beloved doctor and our pharmacist and it was hard. You have to waste time, gas and you have to start over with someone new. It’s an unnecessary problem and Express Scrips has stated that there will be no significant savings by losing Walgreens from it’s network, Walgreens saves us money by using competitive prices and having less expensive generics then other pharmacies.
