I really don’t mind what people do in their hotel rooms provided I don’t have to hear it or see it. Or in the case of our hotel…smell it. My first episode of confusion was that we got a non smoking room (we don’t smoke) and yet we were on a floor with two non smoking rooms at the end and all the other rooms were smoking. How about non smoking floors and smoking floors? So the first day of cigarette smoke smelling was disgusting but it was really whatever, I had my trusty scentsy and was able to ignore it. The second day the entire hall was full of weed smoke. Call me crazy but I don’t feel like having weed smoke around my toddler. What I hate even more is that there were about 10 kids of varying ages in the hotel room with the older couple. So not only were there at least 12 loud obnoxious people in their one bed & one sleeper sofa condo but they were also smoking out the room ALL DAY. I expect that from teenagers, young couples or whatever but not from a family of 12 with parents the same age as my parents and little kids in the room. Chris and I both used to smoke weed a lot when we were younger and without child. Mostly before we even knew each other but now that we have a kid we behave in a responsible way. Some of you are going to hate on me for ever having done it (guess what? I’ve done worse!)

and some of you are going to hate on me because you smoke weed everyday kid or no kid but that’s the great thing about the world…we can all have our views and opinions.
Not only were these people getting high the whole weekend…they were drinking all weekend. Which made them loud and rude. We would walk by and the hall would be full of their kids and other friends and we would have to all but shove our way through. Call me judgy if you want but when you are at least 40 with 12 kids ranging from four to sixteen…you shouldn’t be drinking and getting high all day while they run around the hotel like little maniacs and see you getting drunk and high.
Also…the employees were rude and the hotel guests were mean. I’m not expecting royal treatment at any hotel but I also don’t want to be treated like I’m ruining someones day by, I don’t know, asking them to do their job? Just throwing that out there!
Tomorrow I will share all the fun things we did in between Nate’s tantrums. My sister in law ended up not being able to keep him because they had a full house so he ended up coming with us. Super fun times!

See I would have been on the phone with management until someone did something. And not shut up till I got a hold of corporate if I had to. What you should do is name and link the hotel itself in your post. Companies do not want poor publicity.. I am sorry that was going on and you are nicer then I. They would have seen my face waaay more then they wanted to especially since I am allergic to weed, the smell alone makes me violently ill.

I’m not going to name the hotel or company in the post because I am not looking for them to do anything about it nor do I expect they would. It wasn’t a ‘high class’ hotel by any means and the market they are looking for is the one they have. We stayed cheaply and management was poor but they had no interest in helping us. We won’t be staying there again and will actively tell people not to go there. I didn’t feel like spending most of my weekend complaining or on the phone with people when the hotel obviously didn’t mind what was going on.
I am so spoiled when it’s time to go to the beach. We always stayed in condos growing up, and then for the last 10 years a house…but there have been times when I had to stay in a hotel room and I experienced the same things you wrote about. It seems that hotel staff are ALWAYS rude…it’s the beach. What is there to be so rude about? Love your job. Anyway, it was pretty busy down there this weekend…which was weird, but maybe everyone else was dying for a weekend away too. There was some kind of souped up car/truck thing going on that brought in some undesirable types of people. Good times.

That is awful! I’m sorry you had such a bad hotel experience! I hope the rest of the trip was enjoyable at least!!

Kudos to you for being able to enjoy your time despite all that. I would’ve been screaming up a storm but that’s mostly because thats the crap I deal with all day long so to have to do so while on “vacation”….um…no.
Looking forward to hearing and seeing more about your fun times!!

How do you think they ended up with 12 kids in the first place? LOL

Oh sister, I hope you complained! Or are at least currently writing your letter to the management. That is totally ridiculous!

When we went to Cedar Point last summer I was so tired and we were trying to go to sleep at a decent time because we had to get up early for early entry to the park. Apparently all of the other families didn’t feel that it was necessary to keep their kids in their rooms and keep them somewhat quiet. So the kids were running up and down the hallways slamming door way past midnight. I think I finally fell asleep about 1 and I was so pissed and tired the next morning. I can’t believe that people are so rude. I also didn’t even know that there were hotels with smoking rooms anymore.
