Summer is Here!

After Memorial Day summer has now officially started!  I decided that I would share some summer plans/goals that this family has.

I’m planning to use my stove as little as possible!  Grilling and slow cooking, slow cooking and grilling…Chris got a grill as an early Father’s Day present and I am making him use it and I’m learning how too.

Summer reading!  Nate has been signed up and is excited,  he participated last year when he was almost two and we go to the library 2-3 times a week and read every night but this is just a little something extra.    I’m planning to keep reading a few books a week and look forward to the adult summer reading program!

Spend as much time outside as we can until it’s too hot to handle it.  Right now we do most of our park, storytime, fountain and walking in the morning because my super white child turns red in 15 minutes.  Later in the summer it will be so humid and hot that I could go out with a spoon and stir the air so we are going to be out as much as we can.

Family day trips, road trips and hopefully a trip to the beach soon!  Parades, festivals, music outdoors and whatever else.  Now that he is almost three he is much more willing and able to play.

Chris is SUPPOSED to be off this Independence Day and I’m THRILLED because he hasn’t been off on the 4th as long as we’ve been together and we love to spend holidays together.

Berry picking, farmers market trips and hanging out on farms are also on the agenda.

Also, I look forward to the end of summer, I know it sounds crazy but I love love love the first half of the summer but once it’s so hot I can’t breath?  I’m over it and looking forward to my favorite season, fall.

What are YOUR plans for this summer!  Staying home, getting out, special vacation??  Dish!

  1. OH man I would love to find someplace to pick berries. I hear ya on the too hot to breathe, I can’t stand that. I have to wonder how on Earth people did it before there was air conditioning, or even some sorts of fans. I know my mom went without for many years. I think the more we have advanced it is very possible we have made ourselves too delicate for our own good in some things….

  2. I wish I still had a grill! Slow cooking sounds like a good idea though. I hope to spend some time by the pool at some point and we’re taking a beach vacay in August :)

  3. We are taking it easy! Well, we hit Disney at the end of the month, but after that we will lie low for July and then the kids will be up north for the first part of August.

  4. Sounds fabulous! I wish I had a grill but am thankful Irishman does. He is the master of the monstrosity! Berry picking would be awesome. Although I may have missed the time frame, I need to check around my area for berry picking farms. Lil Duck would LOVE that!
