If you are new around here, on Fridays me and my lovely counterpart The Random Blogette (Jaymeow for me) and I share inspirational weight loss stories/journeys while the other shares a tip/idea/workout and we swap each week. This is all part of our year long weight loss challenge aka Flab to Fab feel free to join us! (you could win $100) but it’s not just about who can lose the most pounds, it’s also about support, non judgement and everyone workin’ on their fitness.
Today, I’m super late with my post! But, I have a good excuse, I’ve been running around all day and had two different doctor appointments!!
My job is to share a tip with you this week and I have something super easy that (almost) all of us can do.

WALKING. And, drinking water. Yep, that’s it. Walk and drink and you don’t even have to walk miles and miles and miles. Just get out and walk 20-30 minutes and you will burn tons of calories and it’s all vigorous activity according to my BodyMedia FIT. That is AWESOME. I like to walk on trails, around the neighborhood and our ‘urban’ trail, the Rail Trail.
I used to laugh hysterically when someone would suggest walking because I thought no way, I need to workout a lot and do aerobics and lift and all that but just the simple act of walking will give me 30-45 minutes of activity and I burn an average of 22 calories a minute…do the math for 30 minutes that’s 660 calories! If I do a walk, clean up my house, take Nate to a park and do a 30 minute workout plus the regular breathing, living and digesting calories…I can rock a 4,000 calorie burn per day. Granted, I weight a lot more then most of you so I will burn more calories but I know that it translates over. Push a stroller and burn even more! Nate usually chills out while we are walking and observes squirrels and birds.
Water, you should drink half your body weight in ounces. So, a 150 pound woman should drink 75 ounces a day. The more you drink, the more you will wash out. It sounds a little weird and you may be bloated for the first day or so but once your body gets to it’s optimum hydration (and you keep it up) it’s more efficient and it will flush out the excess instead of hanging on to it. Plus, lots of water will keep your skin pretty…and who doesn’t want that??
No matter how big you are, walking and water can help you burn up extra calories!

After my gall bladder surgery I walked to ease the stiffness. then it became my nightly habit and time for me. I lost tons of weight just doing that. I need to get back to it.

So many people forget the water part! It is SO important and does so many good things for us! Rock on with your calorie burn. And I hope you get some concrete answers from your appointments!
I am so happy that it is nicer out now so we can take family walks. I am also telling them how important water is too. That was one of the biggest things that helped me lose weight. I need to up my water too.

Water, water, water – once you are used to drinking it, it actually helps fight the bloat! Squeeze a little lemon in it on a warm day – super refreshing. The walking is awesome. Because I don’t have a little one, I forget that bonus you get pushing a stroller!
