Oh yeah, strap in for this one because the crazies have found me again! I recently posted an ad ‘free 1% milk’ because we had too much and weren’t going to use it before it went bad. I assumed no one would want to get it because it’s kind of creepy but, you never know. Sure enough, within 10 minutes someone was emailing me. This person signed their emails with a woman’s name and said she was out of work and needed the milk to help her kids. I said sure, when is a good time? They asked to come that night, it was 10pm so I said no and offered a time range the day after the next day (like they emailed on a monday so I suggested wednesday). This person became very annoyed that I couldn’t meet them the next day, they were annoyed that my husband had to be with me when I met them and very annoyed that I wouldn’t let them come to my house or me go to theirs. Something just seemed…off. You know, that creepy gut feeling you get? So, I decided not to go through with the transaction. I didn’t contact the person to let them know because I was afraid of how crazy they would become, instead when I was texted for a time I didn’t respond. I do know that I should have just let them know that I wasn’t going through with the deal because I felt uncomfortable but, I didn’t. But what happened next shocked me…
Wednesday: 3 texts, 2 phone calls…no voicemails
Thursday: 3 texts, 3 phone calls… a couple voicemails
a week later…one text…
“Good morning…how are you today? All liars will burn in the lake of fire and brimstone. Look up that verse in Revelation. Remember the 1% milk? Thank you 
”
After this I decided to check my voicemails (FYI for anyone who calls and leaves me a voicemail…I don’t check them until there are several in there and I really don’t listen to them if they are from someone I know because I’ve usually called you back by then. Just text me.) So, I didn’t really listen to them but after the text that I received later, I’m sure they were full of more of that junk.
So now, Chris is pretty irate and I’m pretty sure that Richard* is going to track me down somehow and cut me into little pieces because he didn’t get his 1% milk.

Woah – how did he get your phone number in the first place? I know here that I use Freecycle and phone number exchanges are a huge no-no & can actually get you booted from the group if the moderators find out.

Scary! I’m so glad you have those rules though. We (well really my son) sell quite a bit on Craigslist and it’s a house rule that we never meet someone alone and I don’t ever let someone come to the house unless it’s a big furniture item.

we had something like that happen, except it wasn’t milk, it was tickets to some kids show on ice we couldn’t go to….the people wanted the tickets but couldn’t’ meet at the time convenient for both me and DH, and yeah, I’m not into meeting people I don’t know…so they never got the tickets and kept texting me telling me what a horrible person I am because I ruined their child’s life
