We’ve Arrived

Share

We are in Indiana!  Evansville to be exact so if you are nearby, let me know!

First initial impressions:

The positive:

Even though we are on the very industrial (aka concrete filled) side of town in our hotel, there are farmlands a few minutes away and I can see for miles, rows and rows of veggies or open pasture.  Tractors, tillers and silos, oh my!  It makes me feel a little more at home, for those who don’t know, I’m not Southern born…I’m an Iowa girl!

I’m back in the Midwest and now so is my son.  There is nothing wrong at all with the South, well, there are things but you find those things everywhere!  However, when I found out I was pregnant I knew that I would want to raise my children in the midwest, preferably Iowa.

My husband has his very own store and I’m very proud of him and excited for him!

The negative and let me preface with, it’s a small sampling because I’ve only been here two days:

When we have gone for food…the people who are working are rude.  And extremely slow.

Where our hotel is located is surrounded by businesses and concrete which means my view from the hotel…it’s not so pretty.

The ladies I have interacted with are a split mix of women with 12 lbs of makeup and clothes that are 2 sizes too small and women who are obviously hooking to feed a problem.

I look forward to visiting the library tomorrow and finding the other moms and asking the librarians where the parks are and the things to do with kids!

  3. Yay you got there! It sounds like the positives are very positive at this point. :) I hope you find some nice moms today and that people get their acts together with the rudeness and the slowness.

  5. Congrats Chris!
Ha! You got used to all the niceness of people in the south, up here nobody is nice. It’s always a culture shock to me when I go on vacation and people are so friendly

  6. Oh I so understand. We moved when my children were 2.5 and 4 and it was so hard for them… especially the 2.5 year old. When we moved down here a year later, they understood it better and we do still see our closest friends when we visit, which is usually at least twice a year.
